A trip to Barnes and Noble
Feb 26, 2005
While cruising Woodinville the other day, Leanne had to feed the boy. So, we parked outside a Barnes and Noble, giving me something to do while she filled him up. This is way better than just sitting there, listening to sucking noises and generally being bored.
I hadn't been to a book store in forever. That damn internet with its convenient searching, and its one click buying and its... I don't have to pack up a baby good looks... has been keeping me away from something pretty sweet. I think I could have hung out there for hours.
First thing I noticed was the retarded amount of poker stuff. A whole display of poker chips and books was right at the entrance. I walked past that, but did stop at the poker book section on the way to the magazine racks. I checked out a popular book on poker tells, and memorized one. It totally did not help at my tournement Friday. Turns out there is just no defense against stupidity... err, I mean luck, err.. I mean uh... (searching for a nicer way to say it...) there is little defense against players with an uncanny ability to call bets in pots where they have almost no outs (almost being the key word). Not that I am bitter.
Anyway, magazine racks are awesome! It reminded me of how much "stuff" there is to do in life. Most of which I actually want to do. Tons of magazines on photography, pottery, model gliders, poker, gardening, cooking, astronomy, and probably other cool stuff I am forgetting. I would need 3 lifetimes, 1 less kid, and 14.8 million less video games for me to spend a good amount of time on each of the hobbies I would likely enjoy. Still, I had a sweet time flipping through magazines at the store, and that is almost as good :)
